Nate and I have been attending the church Harbor of Hope for 6 years now. It's a great community and we have grown so much there. Recently they have made the decision to partner with the organization Food For the Hungry - an organization that helps feed, educate, and support communities and those in great need all over the world. The specific community our church has chosen to support is El Mirador, located in the Dominican Republic.
From August 18th - 24th, a team of 11 people from our church will be heading there. Nate and I have the privilege and opportunity to be a part of this team! During the week in El Mirador, we will be working alongside and spending time with the community. El Mirador is a rural community, and their access to running water is limited. So, while we are there we will be assisting and helping them build latrines - a structure usually consisting of a hole in the ground that is used as a toilet. The point of this trip however is not for us to go and do a project for them, rather it is to help empower them to continue these projects after we leave.
Recently our family has also started sponsoring a child from that community. His name is Yoan and he is 6 years old. During our time there, we will actually have the opportunity to meet and spend time with him and his family. This will be a special moment for sure!
In order for us to go on this trip, the two of us together need to raise $2,600 by the start of June. If you are able to financially support us for this trip - Thank you! However, we are asking for both spiritual and financial support. We would love to have as many people as possible praying for us during this process. Even if you can't give financially, prayers that we would raise all the money we need would be greatly appreciated. Know that you are not just supporting us, but the community and people of El Mirador!
